Overview
Sidr Productions envisioned a comprehensive platform to bridge the communication gap between Islamic schools, parents, and students—while maintaining Islamic values and educational structure at its core. They collaborated with Digital Bee Studio, a leading Dubai-based development agency, to bring this vision to life through the My School Journey (MSJ) app.
MSJ is a web and mobile-based school management and communication system designed to streamline academic progress tracking, Islamic learning (such as Hifz and Salah), parent-teacher interaction, assignments, events, and more—all in one intuitive platform.
Project Approach
The development of MSJ was driven by a user-focused, iterative design and development cycle. The goal was to ensure usability, modular scalability, and full Islamic educational alignment.
1. Planning & Research
- Requirement gathering from educators, school admins, and parents
- Evaluated existing school management systems and identified gaps in Islamic schooling needs
- Developed user personas and designed features accordingly
2. UX/UI Design
- Built clean, accessible interfaces for six types of users: Admin, Staff, Finance, Teacher, Student, and Parent
- Used responsive design principles for mobile and tablet use
- Prioritized ease of navigation, progress visuals, and real-time notifications
3. Development
- Frontend (Web): Built with Next.js for optimal performance and user experience
- Mobile App: Developed in React Native to ensure cross-platform accessibility
- Backend: Powered by Node.js with Firebase integration for secure data handling and real-time updates
- Designed granular permission-based dashboards and views per user type
- Built modules for Hifz Tracker, Salah Tracker, Assignments, Attendance, Finances, Messaging, Events, and Calendar
4. Testing & Rollout
- Conducted pilot testing with Sidr School and onboarded staff and parents
- Refined interface based on usability feedback
- Rolled out on Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and web-based portal

Outcome & Impact
The My School Journey app has significantly improved communication and transparency between Sidr School’s staff and parents. It allows for real-time updates, academic visibility, and promotes structured Islamic learning.
The system has been designed to scale and is now being offered to other Islamic schools worldwide. Future upgrades will include integration with biometric attendance, multi-language interfaces, and performance analytics dashboards for parents and school leadership.
