Overview
Sidr Productions, a not-for-profit organization committed to producing high-quality Islamic digital content, envisioned an app that could help children around the world build a personal and meaningful connection with the Quran. They partnered with Digital Bee Studio, a Dubai-based tech company, to bring this vision to life through the creation of the My Quran Journey app.
This interactive and gamified app offers a unique learning experience designed specifically for children, helping them understand and memorize the Quran with ease, engagement, and structure.
Project Approach
Digital Bee Studio implemented a phased, agile development approach, with strong emphasis on educational usability, linguistic accuracy, and child safety. The app was developed in multiple stages:
1. Ideation & Discovery
- Collaborated closely with the founders to map out Quranic content suitable for children
- Studied how children interact with educational apps and integrated key gamification elements
- Benchmarked features against top Islamic and non-Islamic learning apps
2. UX/UI Design
- Designed a game-level-based experience where each Surah is a level, progressing from Surah An-Naas to Al-Fatiha
- Included bright, kid-friendly visuals, soft typography, and intuitive layout
- Created separate learning modes: Arabic, Transliteration, Word-by-Word Translation, Tafseer, and Quiz
3. Development
- Frontend (Web): Built using Next.js for a highly responsive and scalable interface
- Mobile App: Developed using React Native for both Android and iOS platforms
- Backend: Built with Node.js, with Firebase for real-time updates, authentication, and progress tracking
- Designed backend logic for tracking completed surahs, quiz scores, memorization badges, and user profiles
- Ensured offline accessibility for previously viewed surahs and audio playback
4. Testing & Launch
- Ran alpha testing with young users and parents for UX validation and performance benchmarks
- Conducted recitation, translation, and linguistic checks with Islamic scholars
- Launched the app successfully on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, along with a fully functional web version

Outcome & Impact
My Quran Journey has become a pioneering platform for young learners worldwide, delivering structured, engaging Quranic education like never before. Since launch, the app has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents and teachers, with thousands of downloads across continents.
Sidr Productions has announced plans to expand the app with additional language support, audio translations, more reciters, advanced tafseer content, and progress sharing with teachers and parents. All this is built upon the robust and scalable architecture developed by Digital Bee Studio.
